What this page cannot check

  • Pointer and scroll rules. AP-MOT-06 (Cursor-following glow or spotlight) and AP-MOT-08 (Parallax-scrolling decorative shapes) move the mouse or scroll the page, so they are checked by the CLI only.
  • Anything your scripts do. Scripts are switched off here for safety, so motion added by JavaScript is not seen. The CLI runs them.
  • Screenshots. A picture cannot be measured: the checks read real styles and structure. Save the page as HTML, or use the CLI.
  • A live URL. Fetching another site from this page needs a server, which is planned. Until then, use the CLI.

How the score works

Each rule has a severity. A high-severity rule adds 12, medium 7 and low 4, up to100. Aim for 0 to 9 with no high-severity rule. These are heuristics, not proof: a page made by hand can trip a rule, so read the evidence before you change something you chose on purpose.
